Our diverse training fleet includes: Allegro 2000 (high-wing Light Sport), Cessna (high-wing), Piper (low-wing), multi-engine aircraft, and flight training devices (.simulators.) to meet your training and rental preferences.
Our instructor staff also has experience in several other makes and models (including various kinds of tailwheel, complex, high-performance, and multi-engine airplanes) in case you are using your own airplane.
On one hand, you can count the number of schools nationwide that are training in, and renting, the new Light Sport airplanes. Private Pilots (and above) are already legal to fly these planes VFR with just a normal checkout. We are proud to have these planes available for everyone, including folks who might not have otherwise been interested in learning to fly!
A standard rental checkout procedure exists to satisfy our insurance requirements and ensure that you are sharing these aircraft with other safe, conscientious pilots. This includes a checkout test (mostly out of the aircraft manual), a flight check covering basic pilot maneuvers, and familiarity with the local area and climate.
A checkout in one type of airplane can automatically cover others. An Arrow (PA-28R) checkout covers all our fixed-gear PA-28.s; an Archer (PA-28-181) checkout covers the Warriors. A C-182 Skylane checkout covers the C-172.s. Checkouts in the PA-34 Seneca (multi-engine) are reviewed individually by our insurance. Multi-engine and MEI students can rent upon passing their checkride and accruing twenty (20) hours in type with our instructor(s).
